Batman works with what’s left of the Justice League to undo the damages done by the Man of Steel and his lackeys. Two years have passed since the defeat of the Regime. However, a brief glow in Superman’s eyes is a sign that he isn’t as powerless as the heroes think he is. Heroes from the prime DC Universe are suddenly transported to the Injustice universe, where they witness the destruction that Superman has caused to the planet.Īfter a series of battles and uneasy alliances, the heroes from both universes manage to defeat the evil Superman, placing him in a prison filled with red sun radiation that eliminates his powers. Superman becomes a superpowered tyrant, and some heroes join his ranks out of fear, desperation, or blind loyalty.įive years after the incident, Superman is the leader of the Regime, and Batman leads a group called the Insurgency. He also kills the Joker in cold blood, breaking his most sacred rule. Superman kills Lois Lane and nukes Metropolis, killing millions. The story revolves around Superman, who goes rogue after being tricked by his universe’s Joker. The game takes place in an alternate universe within the DC Universe multiverse. In 2013, the first Injustice game with the subtitle Gods Among Us was released. With numerous rumors circulating about the next entry in the series, we believe now is the ideal moment to review the Injustice universe’s story so far in WB Games, as well as delve into the more plausible leaks that have emerged in recent months. DC fans also appreciated the game’s somber atmosphere, which resembled that of certain Mortal Kombat games, as it featured some of the comics’ most beloved characters. Her native planet’s Thanagarians played a huge part in DC comic books, and the militant alien race could, like Injustice 2’s Braniac, be a catalyst for bringing the league back together. The original Injustice games received praise from the fighting game community for their excellent combo system and satisfying controls. ![]() Similarly, while Hawkgirl did play a role in Gods Among Us, she was not present for Injustice 2. While this clever insertion could be retconned, it does leave open the door for the only original member of the Justice League who’s yet to take a part in the narrative. Completing his battle ladder in Gods Among Us revealed that the super-powered alien was secretly posing as the Atlantean archivist from the game’s story mode. One DLC character that should definitely make a return, however, is Martian Manhunter. This would also mean Starfire’s fate is still up in the air. Scorpion and Sub-Zero’s guest appearances in the series lend bizarre credence to the argument that a Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe 2 could be better than Injustice 3, but it also means the studio might not take its DLC too seriously. With the popularity of Teen Titans, and the growing importance of Damian Wayne in Injustice’s story, it would be interesting for both Raven and Cyborg to confront their demons (figurative and literal) and decide which of them might follow after Nightwing. So far the Injustice games have only shown Raven as a super-powered lackey of evil Superman. ![]() While Cyborg was present in both games, Injustice 2 traded out Raven for Starfire (who was later added via DLC), with Beast Boy dead before the events of the game. With the plot of the past two games in mind, surviving Teen Titans characters from Gods Among Us like Raven and Deathstroke are strong contenders. Rather than discuss the DC characters Injustice 3 would debut as fighters, it’s more prudent to consider the various heroes and villains that NetherRealm Studios have already programmed, digitalized, and who fit into the narrative. Barring time travel or a visit from another multiverse, they will likely both stay dead. Both met a tragic fate at the hands of the Injustice universe’s evil Superman. In the cases of Lex Luthor and Shazam, it makes sense that neither was present for the second video game in the Injustice series. ![]()
